Pitch-invading England fan mocked in court for supporting Arsenal

The magistrate dealing with him also had something to say about his football club

England took a huge step towards another disappointing major tournament exit on Friday night, beating Malta 4-0 in a World Cup qualifier in Valetta.

Leading 1-0 through Harry Kane’s opener early in the second half, the game was temporarily interrupted by a pitch invader – 16-year-old Jake Peachey.

Peachey, who tweeted his intention to invade the pitch provided the above tweet received 400 retweets, was swiftly taken away from the field of play by stewards. Having spent the night in a cell, he was hit with a €200 fine the next day when he appeared in court – not that it appeared to bother him too much…

As reported by the Mirror, the magistrate dealing with Peachey – a man named Joe Mifsud – couldn’t resist making a dig at Arsenal when he discovered the young pitch invader supported them.

Mifsud, who is said to be a Juventus fan, asked Peachey who he supported before handing out the fine. When he explained he was a supporter of the north London club, Mifsud replied: “You always come close, but never win anything.”

Oh dear.

Arsenal fans have watched their side make a difficult start to the new season. After losing their second game at Stoke, they were hammered 4-0 by Liverpool at Anfield last week.
