Nate Diaz was very quick to correct misleading UFC promo

Hold on a second

Nate Diaz has been telling it like it is since he came out of the womb and Stockton slapped the doctor who delivered him.

The UFC 202 headliner has spotted something off about the promos for his highly anticipated rematch against Conor McGregor.

The Stockton native was the fifth-ranked lightweight when he stepped in for the injured Rafael dos Anjos to face the Notorious at UFC 196. However, because of how late the then 155 lb champ RDA pulled out, the two warriors decided to slug it out at 170 lbs so Diaz, who was not in a training camp at the time, could actually make weight.

Diaz went on to win the fight by submitting McGregor in the second round before accepting a do-over at the same weight. The decision to have the rematch at welterweight again was partly because McGregor wanted to prove that he can beat Diaz under the same conditions, not because either fighter is considered a welterweight.

So the fact that Diaz is being referred to as a welterweight in some of the promos for the fight has left him a little confused.

Diaz had fought a few times at 170 lbs before UFC 196, but had not competed in that division since losing a unanimous decision to Rory MacDonald in 2011. The Stockton native went 2-2 in his brief run at 170, before returning to 155, where he has fought for his previous eight contests prior to beating McGregor.
