Pep Guardiola appears to have as much time for Stan Collymore as he does for coaching tackling

Having (in the eyes of some) won the Premier League after just four matches, the roof’s fallen in a bit on Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

Despite their impressive early season form, consecutive losses to Chelsea and Leicester City in the last couple of weeks have left a few question marks over City’s push for league glory.

Their defeat to Leicester saw the home side three up in the opening half an hour, with Guardiola’s side struggling to win the ball from their opponents. After the match, his side’s lack of tackling was pointed out to the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss, prompting a bizarre response from him.

“I’m not coaching tackles,” he said.  “I’m not training for tackles … what’s tackles?”

Clearly, many seized upon Pep’s words, one of which being Stan Collymore – who described his tackle-free approach to training as ‘beyond deluded’ in his column for the Mirror.

On Tuesday, the City boss was asked what he thought of the former Nottingham Forest, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Basic Instinct 2 star’s views.

His reaction, which brought laughter from those that had gathered for the press conference, just about said it all.
