Neal Maupay slams Everton fans who waited at train station to abuse own players

Unsavoury scenes at Everton

Neal Maupay has slammed a group of Everton fans who waited at a train station to shout abuse at their own players.

The incident comes after Everton lost 4-0 to Spurs away in London on Saturday and were set to travel back to Liverpool from Euston train station after the game.

A group of very unhappy fans congregated outside the ticket barriers to swear and shout insults at the Everton players in a tirade of abuse.

In the video Jordan Pickford can be seen acknowledging the fans as well as Mason Holgate who had little issue with the supporters.

However, Neal Maupay was less content to let slide the shouting from the upset Toffees, appearing to say something back.

This incited a landslide of swear words and insults from the angry fans, telling Maupay to “f**k off” as well as calling him a “rat”.

They followed it up with “80 grand a week?”

The video below contains strong abusive language.

Maupay has since responded to the abuse by taking to X (formerly Twitter) to hit back at the fans who waited behind after the game for the Everton players.

The Frenchman said: “Imagine another job where it’s normalised to get abuse like this.

“Hanging around at a train station to scream at men who are trying their best…”

In response to his post, plenty of people replied with a mix of responses.

One person said: “These are a tiny minority of idiots who are angry, most of us are angry and upset but know how to voice it.

“This happens in all football clubs and is worse in Europe. Club should not be relying on public transport.

“Fans are also angry with a few who steal a living at this club.”

Another person wrote: “Very weird behaviour from those fellas.”

However, not everyone was so sympathetic as one person penned: “Yeah you’ve never worked a job in customer service have you 😂😅”

While another said: “1.Traffic warden, 2. A&E staff, 3. Policemen, 4. Football Referee, 5.Call centre workers.

“Difference is they don’t get paid millions of pounds a year.

“Stuff like this video shouldn’t happen to anyone, but society has an abuse problem at many levels that isn’t reported.”

Only two weeks into the new Premier League season and fans have seemingly already had enough, although some would argue this is taking it a bit too far.
