Mohamed Salah helped Liverpool maintain their momentum in the Premier League title race on Sunday afternoon by firing in a wonder goal against his former club Chelsea. Liverpool’s second of the game, it put to bed any fears Liverpool fans had of repeating the tragedy of the last time they played Chelsea in April while chasing a title.

Salah deviated from his usual celebration of staring at the crowd while chaos ensues around him, with an almost aggressive facial expression, by executing a peaceful pose, one leg bent, resting on his right knee, hands together, eyes closed.

It confused some people. Nobody seemed to know what it meant, but Reds fans loved it nonetheless.

Speaking after the game, Salah explained his motivation behind the pose, explaining that it derives from his love of yoga.

“I am a yoga man!” he told Sky Sports.

“I do yoga and it just came into my mind.”

On scoring such an impressive and important goal, Salah added:

“I don’t think. I just feel.

“Normally I shoot with the inside of my foot. But this one I decided, because it was far, to hit it with power.

“I was lucky the ball hit the net like that.”

Liverpool now sit top of the table with a two point margin, although second placed Manchester City have a game in hand – against Manchester United.

That will cause conflicting emotions among both Liverpool and United fans. While Liverpool supporters will want their direct title rivals to drop points, can they bring themselves to cheer on Manchester United.

Equally for United fans, nobody wants to lose a derby, but the general consensus seems to be that they’d rather see City win the league.

Whatever happens, there will be drama. We’re set for one of the most dramatic ends to a title race since 2011/12. This does not fucking slip now.
