Liverpool have had a £50m bid for Yankuba Minteh rejected by Brighton, leaving Reds boss Andoni Iraola still hunting a new wide attacker as the summer transfer window runs down. The 22-year-old Gambia international is one of several right-sided options being weighed up at Anfield.
Minteh joined Brighton from Newcastle for £30m in 2024 and has scored 10 goals and provided nine assists in 73 appearances for the Seagulls. He plays primarily on the right wing and is recovering from a leg injury picked up in a friendly against Roma earlier this month, which complicates any immediate move.
Strengthening in wide areas is Iraola’s priority for the rest of the window after the departure of Mohamed Salah. Liverpool have already signed Victor Munoz from Osasuna for £34m, a forward who can play off the flank or through the middle, and intend to keep testing the market rather than commit to a single target.
As BBC Sport reported, Paris St-Germain’s Bradley Barcola remains Liverpool’s preferred option, and the 23-year-old France winger is open to moving to Anfield. The clubs are some way apart on valuation: PSG are holding out for a fee in the region of £145m, while Liverpool would be more willing to strike a deal closer to the £100m mark.
It is another twist in an eventful Liverpool pre-season. With Brighton holding firm, the Reds must now decide whether to improve their offer for Minteh or look elsewhere.
