Passengers face major changes

EasyJet is set to leave Leeds Bradford Airport altogether, bringing an end to its 16-year presence at the Yorkshire airport. The airline will stop operating there from 5 January 2027.

The decision means EasyJet’s remaining routes from the airport will eventually disappear, including flights to Geneva, Paris, Belfast, Barcelona, Malaga and Mallorca.

The airline said it wants to put more of its resources into destinations that are proving more popular with passengers.

However, the routes will not all disappear at once. Barcelona, Paris and Belfast will continue until January, while the seasonal services to Malaga and Mallorca are due to finish in November. Geneva was already removed from the schedule in June.

Anyone with a booking from Leeds Bradford after 5 January will be given the option of transferring to a flight from another airport at no extra cost or getting their money back. EasyJet has also apologised to passengers for the disruption.

Leeds Bradford Airport said it had no additional comment on the announcement.

What Leeds Bradford passengers should do now

Ryanair wasted little time responding to the announcement, launching “rescue fares” from £29.99 for passengers affected by EasyJet’s departure. The offer covers EasyJet’s full Leeds Bradford schedule from 5 January 2027, with bookings available until the end of February, including Ryanair’s existing Malaga service.

Ryanair’s director of communications, Jade Kirwan, said the airline was stepping in to help passengers left without their original flights, particularly those travelling between Leeds Bradford and Malaga.

She said Ryanair currently operates 10 flights a week to Malaga from the airport.
