Gaston Ramirez, on loan from Southampton, was integral to the result and it was his marvellous freekick that led to Boro's goal from Cristhian Stuani. But he was the victim of a horror tackle later on.
Brighton's Dale Stephens got an equaliser for the away side before he was sent off for his slice on Ramirez, and that was also the end of the Uruguayan's day as he was left was a horrendously deep gash to his shin.
