Mason Greenwood announces birth of first child on Instagram

Greenwood posted a picture to his Instagram on Friday

Greenwood confirmed the news on his Instagram with a black and white photo of two adult hands next to a baby's hand alongside the caption: "11.07.23", with a love heart emoji afterwards.

The Manchester United player - who is still suspended by the club - recently held a baby shower with his partner and friends to celebrate the arrival. His post on Instagram is the first time he has posted to social media in 18 months.

Greenwood was arrested in January last year after a woman made claims against him on social media.

It looks increasingly unlikely that the one-time England international will feature again at Old Trafford however the 21-year-old has reportedly had multiple offers from clubs in Europe, including Italy.

A source close to Greenwood told The Sun earlier this year that he has apparently told friends that he doesn’t expect to play for United again, despite having a meeting with manager Erik ten Hag.

He said: “Mason believes he’s finished at United.

“He’s sat at home kicking his heels and very frustrated.

“He wants to get back playing football but realises his situation is very complicated and it’s his own doing.

“He is determined to play football again but doesn’t think he’ll ever pull on a United shirt ever again.”
