Manchester United’s deal for Fabinho is ‘almost done’

What's this? A Man United transfer that doesn't involve Griezmann, Neymar, Bale or Rodriguez?

Transfer gossip-parched Manchester United fans, it’s time to quench your thirst.

While many of you are spending your week mindlessly swiping through your social media feeds in search of developments regarding Antoine Griezmann, news from France claims a deal is close to being struck for another rumoured target.

Fabinho is one of 48 Monaco players to be linked with a move away from the Principality in recent weeks and now, according to some bloke on Twitter, Old Trafford is set to be his new home.

As pointed out by the Manchester Evening News, the bloke in question is French journalist Romain Collet-Gaudin – a man who has already suggested that Benjamin Mendy, another Monaco player, is close to a move to Manchester City (that’s not happened yet, either).

The Brazilian, who can play at right back and in defensive midfield, will apparently cost United somewhere in the region of €40m – €45m – that’s £35m -£39m in real money.

Of course, given the time of year, there’s a very, very good chance that this might prove to be inaccurate. But hey, at least it briefly interrupts the relentless flow of Griezmann gossip.

As we proved yesterday, Griezmann’s proposed move to Manchester is currently the most annoying transfer rumour of summer 2017. Stay tuned to see if Fabinho makes an appearance on the list later on.
