Sport say The Red Devils were intent on absolutely smashing United's record transfer fee to try and land Barcelona forward Neymar.
We already know that a bid was lodged by United, after
Neymar's dad lifted the lid on it.
The paper report that United made an incredible bid of £139m for Neymar, and were ready to pay him £280,000 a week to leave the Nou Camp.
"United phoned Barcelona and got the answer that Neymar has a contract and is not for sale, Neymar Snr told
Sport.
"Everyone is calm. Neymar still has three years on his deal.
"We are happy. Neymar chose to play here and he is super-happy in Barcelona.
"You can see that. We know that Barcelona is different: It's not just about winning, but convincing and playing well.
