It is a tense time at the Etihad
Manchester City players are said to be holding talks with agents to discuss their options due to a dip in performances and the growing uncertainty surrounding the 115 charges hearing.
City fell to defeat once again on Wednesday night as they were beaten 2-0 by Juventus, leaving them 22nd in the Champions League.
Pep Guardiola’s side dominated possession but could not way through, managing just three shots on target.
With just two games remaining they run the risk of failing to progress to the next round.
The top eight is now out of reach and they will now have to win their final two games against PSG and Club Brugge to secure a spot in the play-off round.
City have now won just one of their last 10 games in all competitions and the defending Premier League champions are eight points off league leaders Liverpool.
Their dip in form has come amid the backdrop of the City’s ongoing 115 Premier League charges hearing, with the Premier League club accused of breaching various rules including strict financial regulations.
The outcome of the hearing is expected to come in February. City deny all charges.
Fines, points deductions and even expulsion from the Premier League have been touted as potential punishments should they be found guilty.
Former Liverpool and Chelsea star Joe Cole believes City players will be consulting their agents about their options going forward.
Speaking to TNT Cole said: “We don’t know what’s happening with the financial situation.
“When the sanctions came and everyone thought, ‘What’s going to happen?’ [It was still] business as usual on the pitch.
“But players are human and they’ll be wondering what’s happening. They’ll be talking to their agents and hearing rumours.”
City host Manchester rivals United on Sunday in the Premier League and could kick-off 11 points behind Liverpool if they beat Fulham the day before.
