Spanish press claimed a five-year deal had been agreed
Manchester City sources strongly deny reports suggesting Luis Diaz is set to make a shock switch from Liverpool to The Sky Blues.
Spanish press had claimed that the Colombian had agreed a five-year deal with the champions worth €70m (£60m).
However Fabrizio Romano has reported that no contact has been made by Man City for the 27-year-old winger.
Other sources in England have also reported the same.
The news that Diaz had agreed to the switch was broken by Marcos Benito of large Spanish outlet El Chiringuito who had previously broken the news on Chelsea’s breakdown with a transfer for Samu Omorodion.
The rumours were heated further by journalist Pedro Almeida who posted a cryptic tweet early this afternoon of just the words ‘Man City’ and the Colombian flag which he has since deleted.
However, as usual Fab came to the rescue to dowse the flames of a potentially explosive transfer only days before the beginning of the new Premier League season.
The electric winger has been a key component of Liverpool’s front three since joining in January 2022.
The 27-year-old has scored 24 goals and managed 13 assists in 98 games for Liverpool.
