Man United prepared to offer Harry Maguire in swap deal for Premier League star

Manchester United may be prepared to offer Harry Maguire to another club.

Fans are expecting to see a summer of change at Old Trafford with the recent completion of a minority takeover by INEOS.

The former Manchester United captain has made 24 appearances for his club this season scoring two goals but has not hit the heights expected when he joined.

United have the option to extend the 31-year-old’s contract but are likely to offload him providing funds for a summer of signings. Maguire signed for the Reds in 2019 after impressing at Leiceister City and the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Jim Ratcliffe has revealed he will be auditing the squad at the end of the season.

Key areas of weakness will be identified including a central midfielder despite the impressive performances of Kobbie Mainoo.

The Red Devils will be looking to bolster their options both off and on the pitch this summer.

An option that will excite supporters is Lucas Paqueta. The Brazilian has consistently performed for West Ham United since he arrived in 2022.

Paqueta is a mainstay in the Brazilian National Team appearing 49 times since his debut in 2018. After losing Declan Rice to Arsenal last summer, West Ham fans will be desperate to keep hold of arguably their best player.

West Ham have been interested in Maguire for some time but failed to acquire his signature despite a £30 million bid that was rejected last summer.

A player-plus-cash deal may suit both parties this summer. United are not the only admirers of Paqueta in Manchester as Pep Guardiola tried to tempt the 26-year-old towards the Etihad but a betting scandal ruined any chances of a move last summer.

However, this summer may be transitional for both Manchester clubs. United are never far from crisis despite a recent victory against arch-rivals Liverpool.

City are still on for a double treble but have not quite hit the heights of previous years.

Summer signings, Mateo Kovacic and Matheus Nunes are yet to register a Premier League goal in sky blue, leaving the door open for a new face.
