Fans headed for the exits on the 73rd minute
Manchester United fans walked out of Old Trafford in the 73rd minute of their game against Brentford on Monday night as part of protests against the Glazer ownership.
Several fans left Old Trafford with 17 minutes left to play
A large section of the United crowd left their seats with the score 3-0 at the time of the game, after goals from Bruno Fernandes, Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane put them in the driving seat, as a way of voicing their displeasure at the way the club has been run.
Fans could also be heard chanting ‘We want Glazers out while also holding up a series of banners and setting off flares as part of the demonstration.
The protest was organised by The 1958 group, who are growing a reputation for the movement they are leading. They led the protests during the 1-1 draw against Chelsea last week and told JOE that they have plans to continue their protests next season – despite the impending arrival of Erik ten Hag in the summer.

“In the past, these things have started to die out after a couple of games,” a member of the 1958 said.
“The key to getting them out, we believe, is consistency. The turnout tonight has surprised us, but this needs to keep happening.
“They’re ripping the soul from this club. A new manager coming in the summer and a few new players shouldn’t change anything. We’ve had enough.”
In the build-up to the game, the group released a statement explaining why they chose to walk out of Old Trafford in the 73rd minute, explaining that by leaving 17 minutes early, it would represent a minute for every year the Glazers had owned United.

Although only a small number of people in relevance to the Old Trafford crowd headed for the exit early, the protest was another statement of intent as United limp towards the end of the season knowing that securing a Champions League place for next season is extremely unlikely.
