Eden is not the only Hazard sibling being linked with a move this summer

Liverpool have launched a bid to sign Thorgan Hazard from Borussia Mönchengladbach this summer, a report from Belgium has claimed.

The 26-year-old, who is the younger brother of Chelsea star, Eden Hazard, has been linked with a transfer on numerous occasions in recent weeks. On Sunday, German publication Kicker claimed the player had decided he wanted to leave Gladbach, with Borussia Dortmund his most likely destination.

With a year remaining on his current deal, the report claimed Gladbach were open to accepting a bid, probably of around €40m.

Though there was no mention of interest from the Premier League in the Kicker report, Belgian outlet DH now add that a move to Anfield is now an option.

They claim that Liverpool have made a higher offer than Dortmund to Gladbach, who would obviously prefer him to make the switch to Merseyside over joining a Bundesliga rival for less money.

Despite this, DH’s report claims Hazard, who was also on Chelsea’s books as a youngster, is reluctant to join Liverpool over concerns regarding playing time.

The timing of Dortmund’s reported interest in Hazard is interesting, particularly given the strong speculation linking Manchester United with a big money move for Jadon Sancho this summer.

Though there is no indication that Hazard would be signed as a replacement for  the 19-year-old Englishman, his arrival at Dortmund would only fuel the rumours that the German club are possibly open to let Sancho leave for England.

Having led the Bundesliga for most of the season, Lucien Favre’s  men were humbled 5-0 by Bayern Munich at the weekend, the reigning German champions leapfrogging them into first with the end of the season in sight.

Hazard started on the left wing for Gladbach as they drew 1-1 at home with Werder Bremen on Sunday.
