He slammed the atmosphere at the Etihad
A Liverpool legend has called out ‘often offended’ Man City fans as he slammed the atmosphere at the Etihad.
The Champions League returned this week, with Man City, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Arsenal all competing in Europe’s most prestigious competition.
Last night saw the turn of City to enter the competition, playing Inter Milan at home.
The game saw a 0-0 draw play out, with both teams having chances to score.
However, following on from the game, a former Liverpool legend had some very unsavoury words to say about the Man City fans at the Etihad Stadium.
Speaking on Viaplay on Danish television, Jan Molby was very critical of the atmosphere in Manchester as he dug into the City fans.
He said: “I know that they are often offended when you say that there is a bit of a lack of atmosphere here at the Etihad, but that was the case here tonight.
“We saw a few fans who were trying desperately to get something going, but it was just one of those nights. It didn’t really get going.”
Meanwhile, fellow Danish legend, and former Man United and Man City goalkeeper echoed Molby’s thoughts.

He said: “I like good football and I like enthusiasm from the audience. It was dead. The atmosphere at the Etihad was completely dead today. We could hear the Inter supporters, who were quite good, but there was no atmosphere at the Etihad today.”
It was a tough evening for City who failed to break down a resolute Inter Milan defence while also getting plenty of strange looks for not wearing their home kit while at home.
Many curious onlookers pointed out the third kit the Citizens were wearing, with many describing it as one of the worst kits of all time.
Meanwhile, in other Man City news, the club are currently are looking for ‘die hard’ Man City fans to feature in their upcoming documentary that will see four generations of City fans share their experiences.
