The Belgian spent seven years at Stamford Bridge winning several team and individual awards during his time there.
He helped the Blues claim two league titles and won PFA Player of the year in 2014.
Jones confessed he was in awe of how the Belgian performed on the pitch and even went as far as saying he thought Hazard was a better footballer than Liverpool team-mate Mo Salah.
He told TNT Sports: "My one, and I know this might go a little bit left with our fans because of the comparisons, but Hazard for me.
"I know we compare with Mo, I say it as a player, as someone who loves the game, when I wanted to be like a player, I feel like Hazard was the one. Every time I watched him I was like 'wow, that was football'."
Hazard's numbers were never quite as good as Salah's. His best season in front of goal produced 21 goals, 23 fewer than Salah's best.
However, Jones continued: "As a footballer, is he better than Mo, in my opinion, yes. But who would you rather have on your team, you're going to say Mo, because he gets you goals and assists."
Following his departure from Chelsea, Hazard struggled for fitness at Real Madrid and was considered a flop before he chose to retire.
Meanwhile, Salah continues to perform consistently well for Liverpool despite his frustration over his future which remains a doubt as his contract is set to expire at the end of the season.
