Man United ‘in talks’ over first major signing of Ruben Amorim era

€40million could be a bargain

Man United are reportedly in talks for the first major signing of the Ruben Amorim era.

The Red Devils are currently suffering their worst Premier League season in the club’s history, languishing 13th in the table and stumbling under new coach Ruben Amorim.

Yesterday’s 3-1 loss to Brighton at home was further evidence that change is needed at Old Man United in the form of a new signing – or multiple!

This, Ruben Amorim will be hoping, will come in the form of a new wing-back, a crucial part of the Portuguese manager’s playstyle.

Specifically a left-sided wing-back, seeing as Diogo Dalot has been occupying that position, despite being a right-back by trade.

The player in question is young Danish star Patrick Dorgu who plays for Serie A club Lecce.

As reported by both David Ornstein and Fabrizio Romano, United have concrete interest in the player had talks have begun other a potential transfer.

Lecce are asking for €40m (£34m) for the four-time capped Danish international.

Dorgu is a versatile player, occupying the left-back role for Lecce and left wing-back for Denmark.

However, the 20-year-old has even been deployed on the right wing, proving himself extra valuable.

Ornstein reports that nothing is agreed, but talks are making progress with Amorim keen to make recruitments this January.

Dorgu has made 43 first-team appearances for Lecce having joined from Danish club Nordsjælland in 2022.

He has scored three times in Serie A this season.

He signed a new contract in October that runs until 2028.

Fabrizio Romano reported that the player is “100% keen on a move” to Manchester.
