Liverpool agree deal for Naby Keita, with Guinean midfielder joining the club next summer

An unusual deal

It’s already been a decent bank holiday weekend for Liverpool FC and their supporters.

Days on from sealing their return to the Champions League, Jürgen Klopp’s men humiliated Arsenal at Anfield on Sunday, dominating from start to finish in their 4-0 victory.

With Liverpool fans waking up the next morning to the news of a club record-breaking bid for Monaco’s Thomas Lemar, it was later reported that one of their main summer targets was in the UK for his medical for the club.

Guinean midfielder Naby Keita has been linked with a move to Anfield throughout the transfer window, only for his club RB Leipzig, to resist Liverpool’s advances.

Now though, it’s seems Liverpool have got their man… or at least they will get their man next July.

According to Paul Joyce of The Times, the 22-year-old will join the club in a club record deal next summer after a medical in the UK on Monday.

Liverpool will pay a premium on the player’s £48m release clause. This clause will come into the effect at the end of the current season.
