Now though, it's seems Liverpool have got their man... or at least they will get their man next July.
According to Paul Joyce of The Times, the 22-year-old will join the club in a club record deal next summer after a medical in the UK on Monday.
Liverpool will pay a premium on the player's £48m release clause. This clause will come into the effect at the end of the current season.
