Jürgen Klopp refuses to answer question from The Sun journalist

"I don't speak to The Sun anymore"

Liverpool have had quite a day.

With one week to go until the Premier League season kicks off, Liverpool fans will be feeling buoyed after today’s 4-0 win over Luis Suarez’s Barcelona at Wembley Stadium.

The Anfield faithful will also take great heart from manager Jürgen Klopp’s refusal to answer questions from The Sun in the post-match press conference.

Liverpool’s relationship with The Sun has been strained since the paper’s dishonest reporting of the Hillsborough tragedy in which 96 Liverpool fans were killed as a result of negligence by the South West Yorkshire Police.

When asked a question by a Sun reporter, Klopp said:

“I don’t talk with The Sun anymore. It’s not because I’m Liverpool now, it’s because of a few things which will happen in the next few days or weeks, I don’t know. It’s not personal but you’re still working for The Sun, right? So… That’s it. You can listen and write what you want, as always.”

Although it’s unclear at this point what exactly has prompted Klopp’s refusal to speak to the reporter, Liverpool supporters were delighted by his response to the reporter:

Liverpool start their Premier League campaign at Arsenal next week before making trips to Burnley and Tottenham. Their first home game only takes place next month when Claudio Ranieri’s champions, Leicester City travel to Anfield.

Continuing construction work at Anfield will seen Klopp’s side play their opening three fixtures away from home.
