The tiny moment that “broke” Bellingham’s brain

According to former Manchester United and Italy striker Giuseppe Rossi, Jude Bellingham’s difficult night against Argentina can be traced back to a single early incident.

England's World Cup journey came to an end after a 2-1 loss to Argentina in the semi-finals.

Bellingham struggled to make his usual impact, despite being one of England's standout players throughout the competition.

Rossi believes the turning point for Bellingham’s performance came within the opening minutes of the match.

According to Rossi, Argentina midfielder Leandro Paredes' trademark physical style had an impact from the very beginning.

He believes a late hit on Bellingham in the opening stages stayed with him mentally for the rest of the game.

Posting on X, Rossi wrote: “The first ball Bellingham touched, Paredes pushes him over very late after he releases the ball. Right there is where Jude never came back to the game mentally...”

Rossi suggested that the incident was not just a physical challenge, but part of Argentina’s wider strategy to unsettle their opponents mentally.

He argued that at the highest level of football, success is not only determined by strength or ability, but also by how well a team handles the psychological side of the game, something he believes Argentina have become experts at.
