A Sky News reporter was interrupted live on air by an England football fan while covering England’s World Cup semi-final defeat to Argentina.
Jacqui Beltrao was reporting from outside Atlanta Stadium, reflecting on the Three Lions’ loss, when a fan suddenly walked into the background of the broadcast.
The man, appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, approached the camera and said he wanted to discuss the Falklands before breaking into his own rewritten version of ‘Don’t Cry For Me Argentina’, changing the lyrics to reference the long-running dispute over the islands.
As security staff stepped in and dragged him away, he could be heard singing: “Don’t cry for them, Argentina. The truth is you never owned them.”

Once the fan had been removed from the area, Beltrao quickly moved on with the report and jokingly addressed the situation, saying: “There’s been a lot of fans who’ve had a lot of alcohol today and spent an awful lot of their money.”
But the awkward singalong was not the only Falklands-related moment to cause controversy during the match.
After the final whistle, at least three Argentina players were seen holding up a banner referencing the country’s long-standing claim over the Falkland Islands.
FIFA is now reportedly reviewing the incident and could take disciplinary action, while the UK government has also publicly called on football’s governing body to investigate.
