Jamie Vardy reveals his shiner was nothing to do with punching himself in the face

As the last year has shown us, Jamie Vardy has a knack of taking his frustration out on his own head when it comes to missing chances.

As it turns out, Vardy's shiner wasn't self-inflicted. Speaking to ITV Sport after the game, Vardy explained that the black eye was, in fact, caused by a football. "It was a little accident," he said. "My head, or should I say my eye, decided to connect with a football. That's football." Vardy had started the game on the England bench, scoring the game's second and final goal with virtually his first touch.
