The Mexican defender himself knows what it's like to have suffered a broken leg and according to an interview with Dutch newspaper Metronieuws, he was happy that Shaw could accept his apology.
"I’m glad I was able to go speak to him. I went with Phillip Cocu to the hospital. That was very difficult at the beginning, but he was very kind to me and didn’t blame me."
"He had seen the images and said it was part of football. That made me smile."
We're not sure too many players would be so magnanimous after being confronted by the man who ended your season.
Moreno also revealed that the negative reaction towards him was hurtful at the time but that he was always sure he would be able to cope with the attention:
"I did not even touch him, he can still play normal again? This reaction was magnified all over, they were criticized. Also because the two actions followed one another in quick time. Of course it is not nice, but I put none of that there. The people who know me know that I would never intentionally injure someone. I'm a nice guy. Do you know that it used to be always said to me that I would be too soft for a defender?"
