Gennaro Gattuso was at his shithousing best with Roma’s Aleksandar Kolarov

You’ll be glad to know that Gennaro Gattuso hasn’t changed one bit.

The AC Milan manager is one of football’s great motivators, mainly due to the fact that he’s just a little bit terrifying.

Gattuso has overseen one of the most remarkable upturns in form since taking over at the San Siro in November, with his side now on a 12-match unbeaten streak.

The latest victory came on Sunday night, when AC Milan upset Roma at the Stadio Olimpico and Gattuso was at his intense best throughout the game.

Prior to half-time, Gattuso and Kolarov exchanged words when the Roma left-back was preparing to take a throw-in right in front of the away dugout.

The Milan boss continued to aggressively shout in Kolarov’s ear as he prepared to concentrate on the throw, only for the former Manchester City defender to alert the referee.

It was just a bit of gamesmanship on the part of the former Italy international, who was no stranger to confrontation when he was a player.

And, thankfully, Gattuso has mellowed ever so slightly now that he’s older and all was forgiven shortly afterwards as the pair enjoyed a friendly embrace.

Gattuso was thrilled to see his side continue to take on board his instructions and they were rightly rewarded with a 2-0 win

“The greatest satisfaction is to see the mentality and the reaction of the team,” Gattuso said.

“There are people who sacrificed themselves and struggled, they suffered because the way they worked was different.

“The first month [together] was difficult, but the guys always listened to me in everything and now we do not lose for 12 games.”
