A former England football star has made a dramatic comeback to sport and is set to fight YouTuber KSI in March.
Former Chelsea and Manchester City left-back, Wayne Bridge is set to face the influencer on March 29 with an announcement due imminently, according to the Daily Mail.
Once formalities have been agreed, the 44-year-old will face KSI, 31, in Manchester in a fight which will surely draw attention from the football and boxing communities.
It is not Bridge’s first fight having previously defeated Made in Chelsea star Spencer Matthews in a charity bout seven years ago.
He retired from football over ten years ago following a career which saw him win the Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup at Chelsea.
During his 16-year career he also had stints at Southampton, Fulham, West Ham, Sunderland and Brighton and picked up 36 caps for England.
London-born KSI, whose real name is Olajide Olatunji has amassed millions of followers, has released a rap album and oversees a number of business ventures.
He has fought Logan Paul twice and has four wins, a draw and a loss from six fights.
KSI spoke about the prospect of fighting Bridge on Peter Crouch’s podcast back in October 2023.
Crouch said: “You know, if you ever need someone to step in, I know someone in training all the time. So if you need someone last minute, Wayne Bridge.”
Co-host, former Reading midfielder Steve Sidwell added: “Can anyone beat the Bridge? He’s an animal.”
KSI replied: “If he is really about it then it would be great to have him on Misfits for sure.”
