Zlatan Ibrahimovic admits he is ‘scared to retire’ from football

'I don't know what will happen after football, so I am a little scared to stop.'

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has admitted he is 'scared to retire' from football because of the uncertainty of what will come after his playing days are over. The 41-year-old's contract is due to expire at AC Milan at the end of the season, but he has expressed his desire to extend his deal. The Sweden captain has eight goal contributions - six goals and two assists - from nine appearances for the Serie A giants this season and stated that he wants to continue playing for as long as he can. "I want to play as long as possible," he said whilst speaking on Italian talk show Che Tempo Che Fa. "As long as I have that adrenaline, I will continue. "I don't know what will happen after football, so I am a little scared to stop. We'll see, but I want to continue playing so that I don't have any regrets." The larger-than-life character has over 500 career goals to his name, playing for some of the biggest clubs in Europe including the likes of Ajax, Manchester United, Barcelona and Milan's city rivals Inter. Ibrahimovic returned to the Rossoneri during the 2020 winter transfer window and has been in immaculate form since linking up with the club again, scoring 31 goals in 46 league appearances. The former Manchester United forward recently made headlines after he opened up on his time at Old Trafford in his latest book 'Adrenaline' in which he claimed the club had a 'small, closed mentality.'
