Roy Keane responded to Erling Haaland chants during Man Utd’s derby defeat

United fell to a heavy 3-0 defeat against neighbours Manchester City as they rarely looked like troubling the Premier League champions.

Haaland was the star of the show and opened the scoring as he converted the penalty that was awarded by VAR after Rasmus Hojlund was adjudged to have pulled back Rodri in the box.

The Norwegian then doubled his and City’s tally early into the second half as he nodded home Bernardo Silva’s delicious cross.

Phil Foden then finished the game off as he got on the end of Haaland’s teasing ball to make sure of a brilliant win for the Premier League champions.

For Haaland's opener, United fans could be heard chanting Keane's name and when asked about the song by Sky Sports, the forward said: "A lot of people were singing 'Keano' at me - I don't know why - but it was nice to score."

Keane was then asked himself about the chants - which of course refer to his infamous run-ins with Erling's father, Alf-Inge.

Later in the programme, Keane also addressed the issue of leadership on the pitch and said that Erik ten Hag should consider taking the captaincy off Bruno Fernandes.

He added: "After today, the first thing I’d do is take the captaincy off him [Fernandes].

"I know it’s a big decision, but he is not captain material. 

"I think he’s a talented footballer and player, no doubt about it, but what I saw today with him again was him whinging.

"He’s throwing his arm up in the air and it really isn’t acceptable. 

'I would take it off him. We talk about where they should make changes, I’d start with that and only the manager is capable of that."
