Mason Greenwood could be offered the chance to return to football on the international stage – however it won’t be with England.

Greenwood scored his first goal since returning to football at the weekend in Getafe’s 2-2 draw and has played in a large majority of the LaLiga’s side’ campaign this season.

After scoring, the forward posted to his Instagram, saying: “Happy to score my first goal for @getafecf amazing team spirit to come away from the game with a point.”

The forward has one cap for England but is unlikely to feature for the Three Lions again and can still swap nations, with Jamaica a nation he can also qualify for.

Jamaica boss Heimir Hallgrimsson wants the 21-year-old to commit his future to the Reggae Boyz, similarly to how the likes of Ethan Pinnock, Demarai Gray and Michail Antonio have done of late.

He said: “We would like to have the best talent on our team.

“If he gets his former fitness and former levels, then for sure he would have that level to help Jamaica.”

Manchester United mutually agreed to end his time at Old Trafford after he was suspended to the club in January 2022 after he was accused of attempted rape and controlling behaviour.

All charges against him were dropped in February 2023 following a “withdrawal of key witnesses”.
