Inter Milan fans have warned Romelu Lukaku that they plan to make his San Siro return a hostile one as he prepares to face them this month.

The Belgian spent two seasons at the Serie A side between 2019-2021 and returned on loan last year but burned bridges with the Nerazzurri after it emerged that he had held talks with league rivals Juventus.

During those talks he reportedly cut all contact with Inter and refused to answer calls from the playing staff and his teammates while last season’s Champions League finalists also tried to negotiate a permanent deal.

In the end, both clubs decided not to pursue with a move and the forward ended up on loan at Roma as he tries to resurrect his career.

Despite the saga seemingly being over, Inter’s ultras aren’t planning on letting Lukaku forget what he did and have purchased 50,000 whistles for their game against Roma on October 29.

A statement via the Ultras group, the Curva Nord, said: “October 29 is a date we should circle in the calendar so we can be ready to let him hear all our disgust that we feel towards someone who turned his back on us in the most shameful way.

“A character who proved himself to be a small man, because before being a champion, you must be a man and know how to keep your word.

“We defended you with swords drawn and you repaid us by turning your back. Before the game against Roma, the Curva Nord will hand out 50,000 whistles to be used at every touch of the ball from he who betrayed our jersey. Let us all show how someone who proved himself unworthy to wear this shirt ought to be treated.”

Lukaku has adapted to life at Roma well so far, scoring three times in five games for the Giallorossi this season however Jose Mourinho’s side are struggling and sit 13th with just eight points from their seven games so far.
