Midweek fixtures, baby

How did you all find FA Cup weekend? Were you a benefactor of the Magic™ or a victim? Personally, I’m still bouncing after my team made it through to the fifth round, hoping they can carry that form into this week’s round of midweek Premier League fixtures. Speaking of which, that means another game week in the world of Fantasy Premier League. Here are five tips for this week.

1. Oumar Niasse – Cardiff, £5

Arsenal are suffering from an injury crisis right now, after Sokratis Papastathopoulos sustained an ankle injury against Manchester United on Friday, adding to the growing list of casualties. That should give Cardiff – and their new signing Niasse – a good chance of getting on the scoresheet.

2. Jesse Lingard – Manchester United, £6.8

United welcome Burnley to Old Trafford as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to make it nine wins from nine, equalling United’s best ever run of consecutive wins. Lingard, who is thriving under his new boss, will be raring to go after yet another brilliant performance against Arsenal.

3. Gonzalo Higuaín – Chelsea, £9.5m

Chelsea’s new number nine looked sharp during Chelsea’s 3-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup on Sunday and will be hoping to bag his first Premier League goal against an injury-hit Bournemouth defence.

4. Ben Foster – Watford, £4.5m

Tottenham couldn’t find the net without Harry Kane and Dele Alli against Crystal Palace at the weekend, and will likely struggle again if Foster is in good form for Watford, and Fernando Llorente keeps his place up top. Given Mauricio Pochettino’s lack of options right now, you’d suspect that will be the case.

5. Leroy Sané – Manchester City, £9.7m

After Pep Guardiola opted to rest Sané for Manchester City’s cup tie against Burnley at the weekend, the winger will be fresh come Tuesday night and ready to tear Newcastle’s defence apart.
