Chelsea spent £25 million more than the next highest spending Premier League team

Chelsea have emerged as the highest spending Premier League club when it comes to agent's fees, just hours after they had published a pre-tax loss of £262.4 million, the highest in the league's history.

The 2024/25 losses smash a record previously held from Manchester City for the period from 2010-11, of £197.5m.

Just hours after the disappointing news of Chelsea's losses for the past financial year, the FA published its annual report on spending by Premier League clubs on agents' fees from 2025/26.

The Stamford Bridge outfit also came out of the list at the top, spending some £25 million more than the closest Premier League club.

The Blues are reported to have spent £65.1 million on agents' fees, well ahead of Aston Villa in second, who spent £38.4 million.

Man City spent £37.4m, Liverpool paid agents £33.9m and Manchester United £31.8m.

Burnley sit at the bottom of the table with £7.4m spent, somewhat reflecting the Clarets' inability to compete with bigger Premier League clubs since promotion.

They were followed by Everton (£9.9m) and Sunderland (£10.6m).

Chelsea' position shouldn't come as a major surprise, considering the club have invested £1.5bn on transfers since the arrival of BlueCo as owners in 2022.

Despite the context, a number of fans have taken to social media to respond to the news, with one writing: "Chelsea blew away the money signing lots of young players."

Another X user found a more positive note, adding: "Never want to hear that the owners aren’t interested in building the club up."

A third Chelsea fan responded with: "After all this money spent and Chelsea still don’t have a world class first 11 players. They paid all this money to sign average players wow."
