Jude Bellingham and Cristian Romero gave supporters World Cup flashbacks as they clashed during Sunday's Madrid derby.
The La Liga pair could be seen engaged in a war of words on the field, as Atletico and Real Madrid vied for city-wide bragging rights.
While the match was largely dominated by controversy over refereeing decisions, which eventually prompted Real Madrid to issue an unprecedented statement after full-time, another major talking point was the altercation between former Spurs captain Romero and England star Bellingham, and, in particular, what the pair actually said to each other.
Bellingham has already found himself at odds with Romero this year, with the Real Madrid midfielder at the heart of the action following England’s semi-final defeat to Argentina.
Thanks to insights from Movistar's El Dia Despues, quoted here by Spanish paper Diario AS, the full exchange between Bellingham and Romero has been revealed.
Bellingham is reported to have told Romero: "When you’re with [Lionel] Messi, you talk a lot. But here, nothing."
The Englishman is said to have also called the Argentine a "coward."
Romero then reportedly responded by calling Bellingham a "cry baby."
"You cried over there [at the World Cup.]" he is said to have added.
The confrontation between the two is thought to have been prompted by a rash challenge made by Romero on Bellingam during the first half of the match.
