His first song is now live

One of the few 2024/25 Premier League-winning stars to have had a successful 2025/26 season has taken the surprising decision to begin a new career as a musician.

Arne Slot's Reds won last season's title with unexpected ease, brushing aside all challengers to secure a first major trophy in the Dutchman's debut year on Merseyside.

Despite reaching such highs in the opening 12 months of Slot's tenure, it has been far from the same story this season, with Liverpool dropping more than 10 points behind league leaders Arsenal at the time of writing.

Many of the players who won the title for Liverpool last season, including Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk, have struggled to make an impact this time around.

Even Trent Alexander-Arnold, who departed Anfield for Real Madrid this summer, has struggled to make a name for himself in La Liga.

Only Luis Diaz, who left for Bayern Munich, has carried his excellent form from last year into this season, managing 13 goals and further seven assists in just 22 games out in Germany. And it is Diaz who has taken the shock decision to release his first music single.

Posting on Instagram this week, the Colombian shared a clip from a new tune titled "La Promesa" [translates to The Promise].

The clip includes images and scenes from throughout the 28-year-old's playing career, to the sound of Diaz's new song.

Speaking to The Mirror, Diaz summed up why he'd decided to embark on a new career path.

He said: "Music is one of my hobbies and a way of expressing myself from the heart, something I do with great love and respect for the art.

"This project was born out of passion, from enjoying the process and connecting with you from another place."

No date has been set for Diaz's next musical release.

While now a star for the Bavarians, Luis Diaz is best remembered for a glorious spell at Anfield, where he scored 41 goals and racked up 23 assists in 148 games, and won five major trophies.
