Except, for some inexplicable reason, he did so using an image of Angelo Ogbonna, who West Ham have not signed.
Just to clarify, Obiang is a 23-year-old Spanish midfielder who played for Sampdoria, whereas Ogbonna is 27-year-old Italian defender who plies his trade for Juventus.
Now in fairness to Gold, both players have first names ending in O, and surnames beginning with O. Other that that? Well, he's on his own. They don't even look alike.
Poor David realised his error and deleted the tweet pronto. Here's to West Ham signing Ogbonna to save his blushes...
