England have some painful football memories against Argentina.

Diego Maradona’s infamous ‘Hand of God’ goal that knocked England out of the 1986 World Cup, being one of them.

The other came in 1998 when the Three Lions suffered a devastating defeat to the Argies on penalties at the World Cup in France.

But it was David Beckham’s moment of madness when he kicked out at Diego Simeone and got a red card that will live on in infamy.

But time is a great healer and arguably Beckham’s lowest point must be long forgotten, because he was photographed wearing an Argentina shirt on his UNICEF charity world tour.

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid man was in the tough La Boca neighbourhood in the capital city Buenos Aires for a kickabout with some local lads.

It’s part of his globe-trotting documentary which sees the former midfielder playing seven games of football on seven continents.

He spent two hours with children in the area, playing football and posing for photos.

Under a mural of Pope Francis, he said: “Amazing day in Buenos Aires playing with the kids from the community .. (sic)”

In another snap posted on Instagram, the former England captain is seen grinning broadly while he plays alongside the children.

Beckham wrote: “Smiles all around…the passion of these kids and people for this game in the country is truly amazing.”
