Matteo Darmian’s Juventus move could see Mario Mandzukic move to Man United

Darmian looks set to join Juventus

Matteo Darmian’s days at Manchester United are numbered

The Italian international hardly featured for Jose Mourinho towards the end of last season with speculation rife that he’d be on his way back to his homeland as soon as the summer transfer window opened.

Despite being strongly linked with Juventus, Darmian remains a United player. This, however, is expected to change sooner or later.

Juve are still thought to be interested in the defender, and may be willing to send a player on the opposite direction according to a report by Alfredo Pedulla (via Sport Witness).

The Serie A champions have been linked with a number of high-profile signings already this summer, ranging from Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to Cristiano Ronaldo. Perhaps because of this, they’ll also be moving a few players on in time for the new campaign, with one of them expected to be Mario Mandzukic.

The Croatian international is currently with his national side at the World Cup in Russia and scored during their last-16 win over Denmark this week. The 32-year-old’s club future is set to be resolves when he returns from the tournament, with Mourinho thought to be keen to bring him to Manchester.

Juve are said to be open to the idea of letting him leave Turin, and will allow the striker to depart should the former Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid player ask for a transfer.

If Mandzukic does arrive at Old Trafford, it’s highly unlikely he’ll be used for anything other than back-up to first choice striker, Romelu Lukaku.
