release clause has been lowered from the obscene figure of €1bn to just €120m, which for a player of his quality actually represents decent value in the current market, despite him being 33.

Mendes has had a troublesome relationship with Juventus for the past 11 years, but the theory behind this rumour is that having sanctioned the transfer of João Cancelo from Valencia to Juve, he has smoothed things over with the Juventus hierarchy.
