Mixed martial arts fighter Conor McGregor isn't sorry for a single punch that he's thrown over the years. In fact, according to a recent tweet, he clarified that anyone who's ever "got a smack off me" deserved it and that he's "not sorry".
Posted to his Twitter account just after midday on Saturday (November 6), the punch-positive post didn't hang around long and was swiftly deleted - probably because it could eventually come back to haunt the 33-year-old fighter.
Instead of limiting his swings to the ring, McGregor has cultivated a growing track record of apparently firing off punches at unpredictable moments, many of which have landed him in legal hot water.
In April 2019, he pleaded guilty to assaulting Desmond Keogh whilst at the Marble Arch in Dublin. When Keogh refused to take a shot of whiskey, McGregor punched the unsuspecting 50-year-old, with the entire thing caught on the pub's security camera.
The incident resulted in McGregor getting a €1,000 (£869) fine and he soon issued an official apology saying that Keogh "deserved to enjoy his time in the pub without having it end the way it did."
He added: "I was in the wrong. I must come here before you and take accountability and take responsibility."
However it wasn't long before another person claimed that he was doing something similar.
Just last month (October), the MMA fighter was in Rome celebrating the baptism of his son when an Italian DJ claimed that McGregor attacked him unprovoked.
"He attacked me without motivation as we talked for more than two hours and we also had fun together," said DJ Francesco Facchinetti, adding that "I must say that that person is really violent and dangerous."
Bearing these incidents in mind, it's easy to see why McGregor might have suddenly got cold feet regarding his recent tweet - as such a comment would surely swiftly undo the work any public or private apology may have made.
