CONFIRMED: The Tyson Fury vs Wladimir Klitschko rematch will be in the UK

Ben Kenyon

It has been a long time in coming, but the Tyson Fury vs Wladimir Klitschko rematch looks finally set in stone.

World heavyweight champion Fury will take on former title holder in a huge rematch in Manchester.

After months of negotiations a deal has been struck to hold the fight in Fury’s home city which will take place on July 9.

The full details of the venue and fight are set to be announced at noon.

The 6ft 9in Fury comprehensively outpointed the Ukrainian in a historic upset in Dusseldorf back in November to claim the WBA, WBO and IBF belts.

A rematch option had been written into Klitschko’s contract and the 39-year-old, who had a 10-year stranglehold on the heavyweight division before the defeat, exercised his right to another crack at Fury.

The Mancunian champion, who was stripped of the IBF belt after just 10 days after not being able to take on mandatory challenger Vyacheslav Glazkov, has been itching for another big money fight with Klitschko.

His trainer and uncle Peter Fury said all options were being considered for the biggest money venue including Manchester, London, Germany, Ireland and even the UAE,

But it looks like the North West city is the chosen location. Manchester United fan Fury has previously said he wanted to fight at Old Trafford but it seems the Manchester Arena most likely the venue.
