And while it was Gall's perfect win streak that extended, it was Punk's bank balance that earned the much more significant boost as the disclosed purses from UFC 203 emerged on Monday.
The Ohio Athletic Commission released the disclosed paydays for the fighters competing at the weekend and they show that Punk made a flat fee of $500,000 for his first fight.
There would have been no win bonus for Punk had he gotten his hand raised, but the $500,000 does not take into consideration any sponsorship money or locker room bonuses that he likely earned
Gall meanwhile, who stretched his record to 3-0, took home a paltry $30,000 for his victory over the big-name debutant. He was on a $15,000 to show/$15,000 to win deal.
The only main card fighter to earn less than Gall was Scotland's Joanne Calderwood, who made $25,000 in defeat to Jessica Andrade.
In terms of higher earners, the defending UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic claimed a flat $600,000 purse for getting past challenger Alistair Overeem, who actually earned more with $800,000.
Co-headliners Fabricio Werdum made $375,000 in victory over Travis Browne ($120,000).
