Liverpool and Manchester United have previously been denied the chance to wear the badge
Chelsea have been told that they will be allowed to keep the Club World Cup badge on their shirts for the remainder of this season after their request was accepted by the Premier League.
The current Champions League holders won the Club World Cup after beating Brazilian side Palmeiras 2-1 in the final and subsequently wore the badge on their shirt during their league game against Crystal Palace last weekend.
Fans were led to believe that this was just a one-off but according to the Daily Mail, the Blues have been given permission to have the badge printed on their shirts for the rest of the season.
Officials at the league are believed to agree that allowing Thomas Tuchel’s side to have the badge on their kits will be a positive for football.
The decision, however, is likely to come with some opposition – especially from both Liverpool and Manchester United, who were only able to wear the badge one one occasion, before returning to their regulation jerseys.
United had their attempts to keep the badge rejected despite becoming the first English club to win the Club World Cup back in 2008.
Premier League rules state that teams are not allowed to make alterations to their kits mid-season, but that rule now appears to have been changed in order to accommodate Chelsea.
The Blues also wore the badge on their shirts during their 2-0 Champions League win against Lille on Tuesday night and will likely wear it on their kit for their FA Cup game against Luton Town on March 2nd, if granted special permission from the Football Association.
