Chelsea fire back and explain why Hakim Ziyech’s PSG move collapsed

Chelsea have fired back at PSG

Chelsea have responded to Paris Saint-Germain’s claims that Hakim Ziyech’s loan move broke down as they failed to receive the correct documents.

Ziyech almost joined the French champions on transfer deadline day only for the move to collapse, with an appeal to the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) to complete the transfer rejected.

PSG later accused Chelsea of sending the incorrect documents on numerous occasions.

Accusations included sending unsigned forms twice, even though they had warned officials at the west London club of the initial error.

However the Blues have bitten back at the Ligue 1 side and denied their side of the story, instead claiming that an unexpected technology issue stopped the relevant paperwork from getting through, as per the Daily Mail.

Talks between the two parties had also stagnated after there was confusion over the terms of the deal. PSG preferred to secure Ziyech’s signature on a loan deal whereas Chelsea were understood to have preferred a permanent move away from Stamford Bridge.

Question marks over how the Morocco international will be reintegrated to the side now hang over the side following Chelsea’s winter spending spree.

Mykhailo Mudryk, Joã Félix and Noni Madueke – all wingers – were just some of the names through the door in west London and will now mean the former Ajax winger will fall further behind in the pecking order.

Having made just 10 Premier League appearances all season for Graham Potter’s side, it’s unlikely that the winger will become anything more than a bit-part player for the remainder of the season.

Potter’s side are in action on Friday in an all-west London encounter against Fulham.
