Celtic could feature in the first ever Scottish Premiership game played in the United States

Dundee and Celtic are reportedly 85% of the way towards confirming the first ever Scottish top-flight game in the United States.

The Dees have been in negotiations to hold the fixture at the 69,000-capacity Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, which holds six times as many fans as the club's Dens Park home. According to the Dundee Evening Telegraph, a date has been set for the fixture and access to the stadium has been confirmed. Arrangements have reportedly been made with travel companies to ensure fans of the two Scottish clubs are able to make the trip across the atlantic to follow their respective teams. Lincoln Financial Field is the home of NFL franchise the Philadelphia Eagles, while it is also one of the venues for this year's Copa America. The incomplete 15% of the agreement is thought to relate to approval from football's governing bodies, with both Major League Soccer and CONCACAF required to give their blessing before a domestic league game can be played overseas. The Dundee Evening Telegraph reports that UEFA, whose permission would also have originally been required, deferred to the Scottish FA and SPFL. Scottish Premiership clubs are due to receive a fixture list for the 2016/17 season on June 17, and a final decision on the location of the Dundee vs Celtic game is expected before then.
