JOE has unveiled its new boxing show, ‘TKO’, hosted by two-weight world champion Carl Frampton and boxing journalist and presenter Chris Lloyd

Building on its growing ‘JOE Presents:’ slate of original, long-form and multi-platform productions, TKO is one of a number of new shows launching in 2019, with both a football and gaming show currently in pre-production.

In partnership with 32Red, the weekly series offers unique insight into the fight game from a two-weight world champion, via high-profile interviews, in-studio analysis and unprecedented access into the mind of one of this generation’s greatest fighters.

The first episode of the weekly show (released Thursday, 7 February) includes an exclusive interview with Frampton in the aftermath of his defeat to Josh Warrington, and an announcement about what the future holds for his fighting career, where he speaks about potential opponents, whether he may go up or down weight class and maps out the rest of career in ring.

Commenting on the show, Carl Frampton said: “I have been looking for an ambitious, innovative media outlet to work with as I develop my voice away from the ring, and from the early stages of speaking to JOE it has been a massively exciting process. I want to use my knowledge and experience to provide fans with real-world insight and a behind the scenes view of a sport that has so many layers to it, which most people don’t ever get to see. With TKO, that’s about to change.”

Simon Clancy, Head of Audio at JOE, added: “TKO gives JOE’s audience unparalleled access into the world of boxing. We’re taking fans from the gym to the neutral corner and beyond, analysing fights, talking to boxers and getting fans closer to the action than ever before. Few people in the world have as much understanding and real-world experience as Carl. He embodies what it takes to be the best in the world; the dedication, hard work, tears, fears and pain of the fight game. We’re thrilled for him to be the face (and the fist!) of the show.

“With House of Rugby, Unfiltered and Boys Don’t Cry, we’ve carved a reputation for delivering long-form shows to mass audiences in a way no one else is doing. We’re excited to share our truly unique approach to boxing coverage in the UK.”

Fans can listen to TKO on all major audio platforms and watch on YouTube, with show highlights going out on JOE’s social media channels. Each episode will be accompanied by written features, and live fan events will take place later in the 40-episode series.

TKO follows the huge success of JOE’s ‘House of Rugby’ which has become the most popular show of its genre in the country, as well as ‘Boys Don’t Cry’ with Russell Kane – a show that aims to get men talking about the things they don’t usually talk about.

Series two kicks off in the coming weeks. JOE’s critically acclaimed ‘Unfiltered’ will also return for a second series later this year with an exciting new host.
