Atletico Madrid are closing in on a deal to sign Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez according to David Ornstein.
The deal is touted to be worth five times the £14m City paid for the Argentinian in 2022.
Progress has been made since last week when talks began with Alvarez keen on a move to the Spanish giants with personal terms expected to be a formality.
The Argentinian striker has been regarded as second fiddle at Man City for some time now, such is the talent-laden squad the Pep Guardiola possesses.
With Erling Haaland, widely regarded as the best striker in the world, Alvarez rarely plays in his preferred position being deployed across the front line #
Rumour of a move away has followed for forward around for a while now.
His quality is undoubtable, and his price is high with a market value of almost £80m.
Alvarez made 54 appearances in all competitions for City last season, contributing 19 goals and 13 assists.
He has played an important role in Argentina's World Cup win in 2022 and two Copa America wins.
He was most recently playing in the Paris 2024 Olympics for his country where he got two assists before being knocked out in a heated match against France.
