Amir Khan reportedly wanted a huge pay day to fight Kell Brook at Wembley

This is ridiculous...

How hard can it be to sort out a fight?

Where Amir Khan and Kell Brook are concerned, it looks nigh on impossible.

It’s been in the offing for a while – a huge all-British superfight between a former two-weight world champion and the current IBF world champion at Wembley.

Boxing fans would lap it up – but it seems like Eddie Hearn’s attempts to get Khan to fight his man are proving hard even for one of the sport’s best known match makers.

Khan says he wants the fight and came out swinging on Twitter at Kell Brook who he claims wanted a 50/50 cut of the potentially multi-million pound bout.

This is Khan’s rant in full  in which he claimed that Brook was putting a mandatory defence against Kevin Bizier before the potential all-British title fight.

However, Brook’s promoter Hearn has now lifted the lid on what he claims were Khan’s demands for the fight which was earmarked for June 4.

Hearn, who said the Sheffield champ is doing everything he can to make the fight happen, took to Twitter to air ‘the truth’ – claiming Khan wanted upwards of £10m for the fight.

Then he really let loose…

Hearn then went on Sky Sports to explain things even further.

“It has been very positive the last few weeks because we’ve been talking and when there’s dialogue, it’s always good,” he said. “But, like I said, when we had that meeting on Monday, I was left gobsmacked by their demands,” he said.

“It is effectively bigger than an 80-20 split. We are talking about a voluntary defence of a world title by a world champion Kell Brook to Amir Khan.

“I appreciate Khan is probably a bigger name than Kell Brook, but Kell Brook is world champion and he needs some kind of parity, but more importantly he needs respect. That’s why we are talking about a 60-40 split, it’s a great deal for Amir Khan.”
