Bronze Britain
It’s been a rollercoaster couple of days for Team GB’s athletes with a mixed bag of results at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Recent days have seen a scarcity of gold medals, but an influx of silver and bronze medals have exacerbated for many a feeling of what could have been for many GB competitors.
Despite this, Britain’s athletes continue to fight for success in Paris and today will offer plenty more opportunities to climb up the medal table.
The women’s golf kicks off the day at 8am with Charley Hull and Georgia Hall teeing off for the Brits at le Golf National in the first round of competition.
One of GB’s most well known Olympians, Jack Laugher, will be competing alongside Jordon Houlden at 9am in the men’s 3m individual springboard semi-final, looking to add to his already well decorated Olympic diving career.
At the same time, one of the the Olympics most excited and novel events, sport climbing, will be entering its semi-final stage in the men’s boulder and lead.
Hamish McArthur and Toby Roberts will be the British representation in this event.
Qualifying will get underway in the morning session of the athletics from 9am with GB interest in the women’s 100m at 9:15 as well as in the men’s 5000m at 10:10 with Sam Atkins, Patrick Dever and George Mills.
At 10:55, Max Burgin, Elliot Giles and Ben Pattison will run in the their first heat of the men’s 800m.
From 11am the sailing gets underway in the Bay of Marseille with GB interest in the men’s and women’s Kite.
At 11:30am one of the most unique competitors will be on show when the 51-year-old Andy Macdonald will be dropping in at the skate park in the men’s skateboarding park event.
At 11:45 eyes turn back to the velodrome, where Britain have already won one gold medal so far, with Hamish Turnbull and Jack Carlin competing in qualifying for the men’s sprint.

At 12:13 a medal will be on the line for GB in the sailing as Michael Beckett competes in the men’s dinghy medal race.
Emma Finucane and Katy Marchant will be taking to the track at 12:26 in the first round of the women’s keirin, an event dominated by the Dutch and Germans in recent years, but won at London 2012 by legendary cyclist Victoria Pendleton.
Twenty-five minutes later, GB will race in the first round of the women’s team pursuit an event GB have won twice in the last three Olympics.
However, GB will be without main woman Katie Archibald who suffered a freak accident in the run up to these Olympics.
In the afternoon, GB’s sailors will have another chance to medal as John Gimson and Anna Burnet compete in the multihull medal race.
There will be more diving at 14:00 with Grace Reid and Yasmin Harper in the preliminaries of the women’s individual 3m springboard.
Following this there will be a short break in proceedings for GB’s athletes until 17:00 when GB will race in the men’s team pursuit final for gold.
From 18:00 the evening session of the athletics will be getting underway with Tade Ojara running in the semi-final of the men’s 110m hurdles semi-final.
Thirty-five minutes later Alastair Chalmers will run in the men’s 400m hurdles semi-final while at 19:45 Laviai Nielsen, Victoria Ohuruogu and Amber Anning will race in the women’s 400m semi-finals.
Team GB will top off the day with a medal challenge in the men’s 400m as Matthew Hudson-Smith looks to add an Olympic medal to his collection of European and world championship medals.
